The Seniors is a program provided by the Balgartnie Centre for older people who have a history of mental illness or an acquired brain injury (ABI). The concept for the Seniors was first discussed when it was realized that older, or aged people with a psychiatric history or those with an ABI had difficulty accessing opportunities within the Ararat community. The program offered is facilitated by Grampians Community Health’s “Care@Home” team and is focused on social and recreational enjoyment. Provide a service for older, disabled people in the community. Improve their quality of life & enhance self-esteem. Provide acceptance of individuals. Provide fun, enjoyment & promote community access.
