Is BreastScreen right for you?

BreastScreen Victoria is part of BreastScreen Australia, the national screening program for breast cancer. BreastScreen Victoria invites people aged 50-74 who do not have breast symptoms for a breast screen every two years

The BreastScreen Victoria program provides free mammograms to eligible Victorians over the age of 40. Please refer to COVID-19 and our service » My BreastScreen for further information if you are between 40 – 49 and over 75.

The guide below will help determine if BreastScreen Victoria is right for you.

  • I have been diagnosed with breast cancer within the past 5 years
  • I am, or may be, pregnant
  • I am currently breast feeding, or ceased breast feeding less than 3 months ago

BreastScreen Victoria is program for asymptomatic people. If you answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following you should see your doctor before screening:

  • I have a breast symptom now (e.g. lump, pain, or nipple discharge) that has not been checked by a doctor

You may require a longer appointment if you answer ‘Yes’ to any of the following:

  • I require an interpreter
  • I have breast implants
  • I use a mobility aid (e.g. wheelchair)

I have a disability, injury, or other special requirement
