Big Crowds Brave The Heat To Support The GCH Over 40’s Games

Earlier this month the Grampians Community Health Over 40’s Football and Netball matches took place on a sweltering Saturday evening in Ararat.

Despite the thermometre topping out at 37 on the day, a big crowd still showed up to support the players on the field and court.

The Ararat Rats and Ballarat Swans kicked off proceedings on the day before the local legends strutted their stuff. The Over 40’s football saw a victory to the Swans over the Lions while in the Over 40’s netball a six team round robin was played with the Stawell Warriors team coming out overall victors.

The energy around the Alexandra Oval precinct on the day was fantastic, with both the football and netball played in great spirits.

Once again a big thank you to all those who donned the boots or bibs to play as well as to the organising committee, the umpires and scorers, the GCH staff who volunteered to help out on the day and of course the Ararat community.

A special thank you as well to the sponsors on the day, without whom the game couldn’t take place.

All proceeds raised on the day will go towards assisting GCH in our work within local areas affected by the recent bushfire events and providing support for people in those communities.
